Though, trying to boot a CD in Open Firmware with "boot cd:,\\tbxi" doesn't work (I get a "Can't open device or file" error). There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my keyboard. *I have never placed a password on my Open Firmware, and have never been prompted with a password so I don't believe that it's Open Firmware security preventing me from using key commands on start up.* Every time I try holding down keys on start up, it just goes to the Open Firmware screen and says "Release keys to continue!" Option+PR" doesn't do anything (there's no second chime on start up). And with that said, I don't believe that I've reset my PRAM because holding "Command I can't choose a device to boot by holding down "Option" on start up for the same reason. So, I can't get TechTools or even Leopard or Tiger Installer Disks to start up and run some tests or even reinstall my OS. *One of the most frustrating things about my problem is that none of the key commands when powering up the computer seem to work.* I can't get the computer to boot from a CD by holding down "C" on start up. Disconnected all cables and then reconnected them after 10 mins. Removed and reinstalled the internal battery Reset the SMU (by pressing the button on the logic board) Reset the NVRAM (type "reset-nvram", then "reset-all") I've read many posts that seem loosely similar to my problem and have tried the following: When I type in "mac-boot" I get prompted with another blank Open Firmware screen, and when I type it in again, I get a blinking folder icon, and at that point, it seems like the only thing I can do is forcefully shutdown my G5 by hold the power button down. Whenever I turn on my Power Mac G5, I get prompted with an Open Firmware screen that asks me to either "mac-boot" or "shut-down". Hopefully this post can help shed some light on a solution. I've been trying to troubleshoot a problem I'm having with my Power Mac G5 for about a week now using leads from this forum, but to no avail.
